Cultural and Entertainment Assets

Herndon is a well-known gathering place for Northern Virginia. Friday Night Live! concerts begin the first Friday in May and continue to the end of August. The Herndon Festival, the largest free festival in Northern Virginia, takes place the weekend after Memorial Day. Also popular is the Labor Day Jazz Fest and the Holiday Homes Tour, followed by the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on the first Saturday in December.

Herndon is home to the acclaimed regional theater Elden Street Players. The Council for the Arts of Herndon serves as an impresario to performing arts groups. Herndon has a new Arts Space and an active Art in Public Places program. The Herndon-Reston Folk Club gives weekly performances at Tortilla Factory and musical groups entertain in many of the local restaurants. The Town Green is host to Friday and Saturday night concerts during the summer. Herndon is only a few miles away from Wolf Trap, the National Park for the Performing Arts.

The Town has an Historical Museum with much Civil War history contained there. Other assets include an 18-hole golf course, six parks, an active Parks and Rec Center, a Seniors Center, a Farmers Market in season, and multiple ball fields for youth sports. Three major shopping malls are within ten miles and a host of retail shops and Reston Town Center do a lively business.
